Welcome To The Grotto!

Welcome to the Cascade Grotto!

Thank you for becoming a member (or renewing your dues)! We appreciate the support!

Get Connected!

The two main ways we communicate to our members currently is via Facebook and our Yahoo Email group. Since trips are often announced spontaneously and fill up fast, Liking our Facebook Page and joining our Facebook Group are the best ways to stay current on who is going where and when. Members will often post their own trips on the Facebook Group and you can communicate directly with the trip leader(s). Pre-planned caving trips are sent out via the Yahoo Email group, but less often so.

Events!

All of our events that are open to the public are listed on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/cascadegrotto under the “Events” tab. (You do not have to have a Facebook account to view the page) If you are a member and plan to attend, please click “Going” and not just “Interested,” so we can have a good estimate of how many to expect.

Cave Trips!

All of our pre-planned caving trips are announced in the same list on our Facebook page. The grotto-sanctioned trips will be sent out via the Yahoo Email Group, but trips that are planned spontaneously (and are ‘personal’ trips not sanctioned by the grotto,) are often only announced on the Facebook Group and are not published otherwise. These fill up quick!

Training!

We have an active group of members who regularly sponsor vertical training, or Single-Rope Technique (SRT) at the Mountaineers Program Center and Ravenna Park Bridge in Seattle as well as various locations in Tacoma as well as in Cave Camp Campgrounds. These events are typically open to all comers and are free.

Meetings!

We have around 9 meetings per year at the Tukwila Community Center in Tukwila near Sea-Tac. This location is central to the majority of our membership. We meet on the 3rd Friday of those months. Click here for the schedule: 2018 Meeting Schedule. Usually afterwards we retreat to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner, drinks, and tall-tales, of course. Open to all ages and family-friendly.
